What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is hiring a Computer Engineer to provide on-site technical engineering support for a federal government program in Northern Virginia. In this role you will install, configure, integrate, troubleshoot, and maintain computer systems and associated network infrastructure while delivering customer-focused technical support to diverse stakeholders.
Compensation & Contract
- Salary range: $130,000 – $230,000 annually (actual compensation depends on experience, certifications, security clearance, and contract funding).
- Anticipated award/start: September–October 2026 (position contingent on contract award).
- Period of Performance: 1 Base Year + 4 Option Years.
- Location: On-site in Northern Virginia (Alexandria area).
- Employment type: Full-time (on-site).
Responsibilities
- Installs, configures, integrates, and supports computer hardware, operating systems, applications, device drivers, and peripherals.
- Maintains and troubleshoots network infrastructure components (routers, switches, NICs), storage, and memory.
- Diagnoses and resolves system and connectivity issues using analytical troubleshooting.
- Provides customer-focused technical support and clear technical guidance to non-technical and technical audiences.
- Prepares technical documentation and communicates status updates verbally and in writing.
- Works independently or in teams; applies basic project management practices to plan, track, and complete tasks.
- Keeps current on emerging technologies, tools, and methodologies relevant to the mission.
Who We’re Looking For (Experience Levels)
- Entry Level: 0–2 years of specialized experience.
- Journeyman: 2–4 years of specialized experience.
- Full Performance: 4–6 years of specialized experience.
- Senior: 6–8 years of specialized experience.
- Subject Matter Expert (SME): 8–12 years of specialized experience.
Required Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI clearance with an FS polygraph adjudicated within the last five (5) years.
- Demonstrated experience installing and supporting computer systems and common network devices.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for hardware, OS, application, and network problems.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills tailored to varied audiences.
- Ability to work on-site in Northern Virginia and pass any client-specific onboarding or site access checks.
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related technical discipline (preferred but not required).
- Professional certifications in cloud/infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity, systems administration, or related areas.
- Experience supporting federal government or DoD clients and familiarity with secure environments and operational security (OPSEC) best practices.
