What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Computational Specialist to support data analysis and data management across three shared research core facilities that provide microscopy, mass spectrometry, sequencing, and flow cytometry services to research groups. In this role you will work directly with facility directors, facility staff, and a broad range of research labs to turn experimental data into usable results and well-managed datasets.
Primary responsibilities:
- Support analysis pipelines for microscopy imaging, mass spectrometry, sequencing, and flow cytometry datasets.
- Clean, organize, and document datasets so they are reproducible and shareable across labs.
- Develop and maintain scripts and small pipelines for routine processing (Python, R, or similar).
- Create clear visualizations and summary reports to communicate results to non-computational researchers.
- Assist with data storage, metadata standards, and basic data-management practices.
- Troubleshoot analysis problems and provide user-facing support and training for facility users.
- Collaborate with facility staff to prioritize requests, estimate turnaround, and maintain data security and confidentiality.

- Experience with data visualization (matplotlib, ggplot2, or similar) and producing clear, reproducible reports.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with researchers from diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail when managing files, metadata, and analysis steps.
Preferred Qualifications
- Coursework or hands-on experience with microscopy image analysis, mass-spectrometry data, next-generation sequencing, or flow cytometry analysis.
- Exposure to workflow tools (Snakemake, Nextflow) or experience building simple pipelines.
- Experience with SQL or experience managing medium-sized datasets.
- Familiarity with common bioinformatics libraries (Bioconductor, scikit-image, pandas, etc.).
- Prior experience supporting core facilities, shared resources, or collaborative research projects.
Compensation & Location
- Estimated salary: $106,258 per year (estimated).
- Employment Type: Full-time.
- Location: Stanford, CA (on-site work with possible occasional remote tasks as required by the facilities).
Why Join
