Role overview

This entry-level Compliance Engineer I role supports product compliance for mechanical and electromechanical food-service equipment. Working under close supervision of senior compliance engineers and engineering leadership, you will assist with compliance planning, documentation, product evaluations, testing coordination, and cross-functional communication. This is a part-time position based in Forbing, LA and reports to an Engineering Manager/Director/VP of Engineering. Employment will be with a confidential client.

What You’ll Do

• Assist in preparing, maintaining, and reviewing product compliance documentation and technical files.
• Support compliance activities related to applicable regulations, safety standards, certifications, and internal policies.
• Collaborate with design, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to incorporate compliance into product designs and changes.
• Participate in engineering change processes to assess regulatory and compliance impacts of design updates.
• Help coordinate product testing, evaluations, and certifications with internal teams and third‑party labs.
• Track and document compliance requirements for current and new products.
• Prepare and process Engineering Change Requests (ECRs), Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), and related compliance records.
• Use ERP and document-management systems for compliance tracking, Bills of Materials (BoMs), and product records.
• Assist in identifying compliance risks and support corrective actions.
• Communicate compliance status, test results, and risks clearly to internal stakeholders.
• Provide compliance‑related product information to Sales, Marketing, Technical Services, and Manufacturing as needed.
• Support audits, regulatory inquiries, and internal compliance reviews.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Education & experience:
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related technical field (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or similar), and 0–2 years of experience in engineering, quality, regulatory, or compliance-related roles; OR
  • Equivalent industry experience demonstrating strong aptitude for compliance and technical documentation.
• Skills & abilities:
  • Basic understanding of engineering principles and regulatory compliance concepts.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret standards, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with engineering drawings, BoMs, and change-control processes.
  • Proficiency with standard office software (Microsoft Office) and ERP systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-based, cross-functional environment.
  • Willingness and ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when in manufacturing areas.
  • Ability to learn and apply applicable safety, regulatory, and industry standards.

Working Conditions

• Primarily office-based computer work with periodic time in manufacturing or lab environments.
• Occasional lifting up to 30 lbs.
• Exposure to manufacturing noise, industrial equipment, and moving vehicles when in production areas.
• Must be able to travel domestically up to 15% of the time.

Compensation & Benefits

• Estimated pay (displayed in source): $55,367 per year (estimated).
