Role snapshot

Confidential Client is hiring a Compensation Analyst I to support compensation programs, job evaluations and market pricing from their Durham, NC location. This is a hybrid, full-time role (Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM ET) with a minimum of three days in-office each week and two remote days. Estimated pay: $74,331 per year (estimated).


What You’ll Do

  • Participate in the administration and delivery of compensation programs.
  • Support the annual global compensation salary survey process.
  • Conduct job evaluations and market pricing / benchmarking.
  • Respond to compensation inquiries and meet SLA/service-level expectations.
  • Support development of salary increase proposals and promotion recommendations using data-driven analysis.
  • Assist with research and analysis of compensation and reward programs.
  • Ensure compensation practices comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Provide support for salary planning, merit planning, and incentive program administration.
  • Approve job/compensation-related actions in Workday (or equivalent HRIS).
  • Prepare compensation reporting and analytics.
  • Assist on compensation-related projects, audits, and process improvements.

What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum: Bachelor’s degree and at least 1 year of related experience in HR, Finance, or an analytical data-focused role.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree and experience with HRIS systems (ideally Workday) — running queries, accessing and manipulating HR data.
  • Preferred: Experience with job analysis and job evaluation.

Skills & Additional Standards

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Advanced Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables, basic formulas).
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Clear written and verbal communication; ability to present findings to HR and business partners.
  • Ability to handle sensitive data and maintain confidentiality.
  • Desire to learn and take on new responsibilities.
  • Fluency in English required.

Schedule & Location

  • Work arrangement: Hybrid — minimum three days per week in-office in Durham, NC; two remote days permitted.
  • Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM Eastern Time.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Estimated pay: $74,331 per year (estimated).
