What You’ll Do

This is an entry-level, hands-on communications role supporting a Confidential Client’s digital and field communications. You will create content, help run digital campaigns, and gather stories from frontline workers to amplify member voices across social and traditional channels.

  • Create and publish content across social platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, YouTube); monitor analytics and engagement to grow audiences.
  • Produce short-form videos, photos, graphics, and visual assets for campaigns and member communications.
  • Maintain and update the organization’s website (Squarespace) and help manage a content calendar.
  • Draft and send member-facing communications (e-blasts, text messages, toolkits) using platforms like Mailchimp, Action Network, Hustle, and Sidekick.
  • Design print and digital materials (flyers, newsletters, stickers, ads).
  • Visit worksites to interview members and capture stories, quotes, photos, and video; support coverage of rallies, bargaining sessions, and workplace events.
  • Assist with press materials, talking points, fact sheets, and web content; monitor media coverage and research trends.
  • Provide logistical and communications support for events and campaigns; collaborate with staff, organizers, and community partners.

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication; able to translate complex topics into clear, audience-friendly language.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain editorial standards.
  • Experience with social media platforms and basic analytics.
  • Basic video shooting and editing skills; comfortable with mobile-first content production.
  • Familiarity with digital tools such as Squarespace, Canva, Mailchimp, Action Network, and Zoom.
  • Comfortable conducting interviews and building rapport with members in the field.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel locally as needed.
  • Fluency in Spanish is strongly preferred.

Preferred (Not Required) Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Background or interest in labor, community organizing, worker advocacy, or social justice.
  • Experience designing print and digital communications and familiarity with AP Style.
  • Portfolio demonstrating writing, social media content, and designed materials (non–AI-generated work preferred).

Additional Details

  • Employment type: Full-time.
  • Typical hours: Generally 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional evenings and weekends based on campaign needs.
  • This role is based in Textile Finance, California (local fieldwork expected).
  • This is a hands-on position that may require prolonged computer work and occasional domestic travel.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: $70,304 annually.
  • Full benefits package: health insurance, dental, vision, pension plan, and paid time off.
