Responsibilities
Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level commissions accounting analyst to help process and reconcile commission statements. The role focuses on accurate, timely commission processing and clear communication with business unit teams and internal service teams.
- Identify carrier statements ready for commission processing as directed by business unit leads or managers
- Identify contracting or data errors and report them to the contracting team for resolution
- Review errors and exceptions; coordinate with Service and BU teams to resolve issues
- Review calculations to identify unusual transactions and work with lead/manager on action plans
- Finalize commission batches and prepare them for approval
- Follow up on incomplete transactions or batches to ensure timely payment
Position Requirements (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
- Will develop expertise using the client’s commission system and both automated and manual processes
- Basic understanding of accounting processes (payables, payroll, bookkeeping) preferred
- Strong analytical techniques for calculating amounts, researching issues and identifying variances
- Professional written and verbal communication for interacting with business unit teams and payees
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, lookup functions) and ability to apply them to produce required outputs
- Time management and organization to handle multiple clients or research requests
- Analytical and critical thinking to anticipate and respond to calculation and processing questions
- Ability to organize, track assigned files and follow up to resolution
- Strong attention to detail to identify discrepancies and ensure accuracy
Experience
- Entry-level bookkeeping or accounting transactional experience (accounts payable, commission calculations, reconciliation) preferred
- Insurance or financial services experience is a plus
- Hands-on customer or client service experience preferred
- Experience producing written client support (emails, reporting) is helpful
Education
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration, accounting or mathematics preferred
