Job Summary

The Commissioning Field Technician II (Confidential Client) is an entry-level field role supporting commissioning, inspection, testing, and validation of electrical, mechanical, and controls systems for commercial and critical facilities. This hybrid, US-based role requires frequent domestic travel (up to ~75%), proximity to a major airport, and the ability to perform hands‑on testing and troubleshooting under supervision.


What You’ll Do (Primary Responsibilities)

  • Perform on-site inspection, validation, functional testing and verification of electrical, mechanical, and control systems (approx. 50%).
  • Participate in factory witness testing and observe system start-ups.
  • Use technical test equipment to run diagnostic and functional performance tests.
  • Troubleshoot system components and escalate issues as needed.
  • Assist in developing commissioning plans, pre-functional checklists, and functional performance test scripts (approx. 20%).
  • Review construction-related drawings, submittals, and sequences of operation to support commissioning-focused design reviews (approx. 15%).
  • Prepare project progress reports and contribute to final commissioning documentation (approx. 10%).
  • Leverage AI-enabled and digital tools to increase efficiency and consistency in testing, reporting, and workflows (approx. 5%).
  • Complete assigned tasks and deliverables on time and within budget, performing other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Knowledge of electrical, mechanical and controls system principles (beginner to developing level).
  • Skilled with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams); strong organizational and file‑management habits.
  • Attention to detail and strong documentation skills.
  • Ability to use diagnostic/test equipment and follow technical test procedures.
  • Good oral and written communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Able to work both independently (with supervision) and collaboratively on project teams.
  • Comfortable working under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Willingness and ability to learn and adopt AI/digital tools to streamline tasks.
  • Ability to follow company and site safety requirements.
  • Ability to obtain NFPA 70E and/or OSHA training/certification as required.

Physical Demands

  • Frequently manipulate, move, or grasp small parts, devices or tools.
  • Frequently stand or remain stationary for extended periods.
  • Frequently move through office, critical facility and outdoor environments (extreme temperatures, precipitation, wind), including tight/confined spaces.
  • Frequently use stairs and ladders; occasionally position self over/under equipment.
  • Occasional lifting/moving of equipment up to 50 lbs.

Travel & Relocation

  • Up to 75% domestic travel (may include travel to any U.S. state); potential for international assignments.
  • Must be located near a major airport.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to rent vehicles.
  • Effective May 7, 2025, domestic air travel requires a REAL ID or acceptable alternative (e.g., passport).
  • Relocation may be considered for long‑term project needs.

Certifications

  • Ability to obtain NFPA 70E and OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certifications as required.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction, or related discipline; OR
  • Minimum of two years’ hands‑on experience with installation, testing, validation, and troubleshooting of mechanical, controls, and/or electrical infrastructure.
