What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Commercial Lines Underwriter to join their underwriting team in Lake Elmo, MN. This role provides structured training, hands-on underwriting experience, and the potential for a merit-based hybrid work schedule after initial in-person training.
- Learn commercial insurance coverages, contracts, company underwriting philosophy, policies, manuals, forms, and endorsements.
- Analyze loss history, financial information, and physical characteristics of risks to support underwriting decisions.
- Apply company procedures and guidelines to evaluate submissions and determine appropriate risk placement.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with independent agents, colleagues, and internal teams—both verbally and in writing.
- Build working knowledge of related underwriting support functions and partner effectively with those teams.
Who You Are (Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Good judgment and ability to make independent decisions within established guidelines.
- Above-average written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated interest in learning insurance products and continuing professional development.
Compensation & Benefits
- Anticipated starting base pay range: $57,000 - $80,800 per year. Final salary will be based on experience, education, and other job-related factors.
- Eligibility for additional bonus opportunities.
