What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is seeking a Commercial Construction Estimator to join their team in Freeport, NY. This role focuses on preparing accurate mechanical takeoffs, pricing represented HVAC products, and building detailed proposals to support commercial construction projects. This position is suitable for an entry-level candidate who learns quickly and for experienced estimators familiar with mechanical drawings and manufacturer software.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications
- Complete material and equipment takeoffs from mechanical drawings
- Use manufacturer software to price represented product lines
- Prepare detailed quotes and formal proposals based on takeoffs
- Price all products represented by the client for commercial HVAC projects
- Collaborate with sales, project managers, and manufacturers; follow direction from management
- Perform related duties as assigned
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree OR 1–2 years of related experience in construction, engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Comfortable learning and using takeoff and manufacturer software (PlanSwift, On-Screen Takeoff, manufacturer tools)
- Microsoft Excel proficiency
- Experience with ERP systems (example: Microsoft Navision) is a plus
- Strong organization, attention to detail, and ability to learn quickly
- AutoCAD or 3D modeling experience is not required
