College Expo I Instructor
The College Expo I Instructor facilitates a college and career readiness course for high school freshmen and sophomores, helping students understand graduation requirements, explore post-secondary options, and navigate college admissions and financial aid processes. This part-time role involves creating and adapting curriculum, managing both in-person and online classrooms, and preparing students for a final presentation, supporting their successful transition to higher education or career paths.

What You’ll Do
- Create, adapt, and deliver an engaging College/Career Exploration I curriculum for high school freshmen and sophomores (groups of ~10 online or up to 25 in person).
- Review student transcripts, confirm graduation progress, and ensure students are familiar with NYC graduation requirements.
- Teach lessons that build college- and career-readiness skills, including admissions and financial aid basics.
- Help students identify post-secondary interests and career pathways, including college, job training, and workforce options.
- Submit weekly lesson plans for supervisor review one week prior to each class; prepare daily curriculum and materials for approval.
- Manage in-person and remote classrooms using positive behavior management strategies; during remote sessions, appear on camera and actively engage students.
- Meet regularly with program coordinators for supervision and debriefing.
- Guide students to complete a final project to present at the program’s end-of-year celebration.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Higher Education, Guidance Counseling, Social Work, or related field preferred.
- Experience working with high school students on the college application process and with Regents diploma/NYC graduation requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to guide students toward a Regents diploma and to support alternative post-secondary plans (job training, workforce pathways).
- Strong classroom management and student engagement skills in both in-person and online settings.
- Reliable internet connection, functional computer, and camera for remote instruction when required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to prepare clear lesson plans and submit them on schedule.
Schedule, Location & Employment Type
- Part-time, hourly instructor for a Saturday academy.
- Term: October 2026 – June 2027 (Saturdays).
- Primary work location: Manhattan, NY. In-person sessions are required for most classes; some sessions may transition to remote delivery if circumstances require.
- Employment type: PART_TIME
Compensation
- $45–$55 per hour (hourly, part-time). Pay is disclosed as provided by the confidential client.
