Overview

Confidential Client (via Careertakes) is recruiting AmeriCorps members to serve as AdviseMI Advisors in high schools or College Completion Coaches on college campuses across Michigan. This is a full-term AmeriCorps service position focused on increasing college access and supporting student persistence and completion.


Compensation & Benefits

  • $20,000 living stipend (AmeriCorps service term)
  • $3,697.50 Segal Education Award (post-service)

Service Commitment

  • Term: December 1, 2026 – June 11, 2027
  • Hours: 900 total service hours (approximately 37.5–40 hours/week)
  • Full-term commitment required

Training & Support

  • Comprehensive onboarding (virtual + in-person) in August
  • Ongoing professional development, regional meetings, and participation in MCAN conference opportunities
  • Training hours capped at 20% of total service hours (per AmeriCorps guidelines)
  • No prior experience required — training provided; travel and training expenses covered

What You’ll Do

  • Provide one-on-one guidance and coaching to a cohort of students
  • Lead workshops, classroom presentations, and group events on college access and completion topics
  • Build and maintain relationships with school/campus staff and community partners
  • Track and report student progress and outcomes using program systems and metrics
  • Participate in trainings, meetings, and ongoing professional development
  • Represent your program at outreach events and community activities

Qualifications & Eligibility

General requirements (must be met to serve in AmeriCorps capacity):

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or lawful permanent resident (green card holder)
  • Must pass required federal and state background checks (subject to placement-specific rules)
  • Must live within 45 minutes of assigned placement site and have reliable transportation

Education requirements (by role):

  • AdviseMI Advisor: Bachelor’s degree or higher (Associate’s accepted at some locations)
  • College Completion Corps Coach: Associate degree or higher
