Overview
Confidential Client is seeking a Collaboration Services Engineer I to support cloud-based collaboration services for Department of Defense (DoD) and federal missions. This is an entry-level, full-time, hybrid role based in San Antonio, TX (work will include 1–2 days per week in a SCIF). The role requires an active TS/SCI clearance.
What You’ll Do
As a Collaboration Services Engineer I you will:
- Assist in the configuration, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting of cloud environments and collaboration tools under close supervision.
- Support cloud-based applications that enable DoD mission objectives.
- Help implement cloud adoption plans, set up front-end and back-end platforms, and contribute to operational delivery systems to maintain platform availability.
- Establish and maintain cloud storage, compute resources, and identity & access management following security and regulatory guidance.
- Monitor cloud performance, manage routine updates, and support automation to improve reliability and scalability.
- Participate in discovery analyses, strategy and architecture workshops, and provide assessments of current-state architecture with recommendations for future-state designs.
- Coordinate with engineering teams, vendors, and support staff to resolve issues and ensure mission continuity.
- Follow documented procedures, record all planned hours, and meet contractual deliverables.
- Complete assigned professional development activities and attend team meetings (camera on when required).
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the program and customer.
Required Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Systems Intelligence, Analytics, IT, or a related discipline — 0–2 years of relevant experience.
- Experience administering Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence).
- Familiarity with one or more scripting languages (Bash, Python).
- One of these certifications preferred: CompTIA Cloud+, CompTIA Security+, GICSP, SSCP, or GSEC.
- Working knowledge of cloud computing fundamentals, configuration management, and security controls.
- Experience or exposure to infrastructure-as-code (Terraform or CloudFormation) and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Basic understanding of DevOps principles and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established processes in a team-oriented environment.
- Interest in collaboration technologies and cloud service operations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Internship or project experience in cloud computing, DevOps, or collaboration platforms.
- Additional certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, or Atlassian Cloud Organization Administrator.
- Familiarity with networking fundamentals and automation tooling.
Compensation & Benefits
- Estimated salary range: $88,247 - $105,000 per year. Final salary will depend on contract labor categories, relevant experience, skills, certifications, and geographic factors.
- Benefits vary by client contract and may include standard federal contractor benefits — details provided during interview/offer.
Location & Work Environment
- Location: Hybrid in San Antonio, TX (may also support Rome, NY assignments as applicable). Role requires intermittent work in a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF).
- This position supports mission-critical DoD/federal systems; strict security and compliance standards apply.
