Overview

Our confidential client is hiring a Cloud Software Engineer (Backend) to design, build, and maintain cloud-native backend services that power enterprise features. You'll work with Cloud Architects, frontend engineers, QA, and hardware teams to deliver secure, high-performance systems used at scale. This is a full-time role based in Irvine, CA.


What You’ll Do

  • Research and implement scalable, reliable backend services using cloud-native patterns.
  • Design and build APIs, message-driven systems, and distributed services following DDD principles.
  • Implement solutions on a cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or OCI) and optimize for performance, cost, and reliability.
  • Use containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes) for deployments.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and CI/CD pipelines for repeatable, secure releases.
  • Collaborate with frontend, UX/UI, QA, and hardware teams to ensure smooth integration.
  • Apply security best practices to protect data and services.
  • Participate in code reviews and design discussions; write clean, maintainable, well-documented code.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex backend issues in production environments.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of professional experience building cloud backend applications.
  • Strong proficiency in Java and frameworks such as Spring Boot.
  • Deep understanding of the JVM, multithreading, and performance optimization.
  • Experience with at least one cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or OCI).
  • Experience with cloud databases (NoSQL e.g., MongoDB, and/or relational databases).
  • Familiarity with distributed middleware and messaging systems (e.g., message queues, config centers).
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes (or similar container orchestration).
  • Knowledge of APIs, message queues, and backend architecture patterns.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills; able to work effectively on a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with DevOps practices and automation.
  • Familiarity with serverless architectures.
  • Experience working with SDN controller platforms or AI Ops systems.
  • Prior work in an enterprise/cloud networking or devices environment.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $120,000 - $180,000 (annual).
