Role Summary
Confidential Client (via Careertakes) is seeking a hands-on Cloud Full Stack Engineer in Newport Beach, CA. You will design, build, deploy, and support full-stack applications on AWS, owning features end-to-end from React + TypeScript frontends to Java/Node.js backends. This is a contractor opportunity working with modern serverless and EC2-based architectures, CI/CD pipelines, and DevSecOps practices.
What You’ll Do
- Design, develop, and deploy full-stack applications on AWS (Lambda, EC2, managed databases).
- Build responsive web applications using React and TypeScript.
- Develop backend services using Java and Node.js.
- Implement serverless solutions (AWS Lambda) and maintain EC2-hosted services.
- Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automate deployments.
- Troubleshoot production issues and support go-live activities.
- Collaborate with product, QA, and security teams to deliver secure, testable, and maintainable software.
- Follow DevSecOps practices to integrate security into the delivery lifecycle.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional software development experience, with 2+ years in full-stack roles.
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS services (Lambda, EC2) and deploying/supporting production apps on AWS.
- Proficient with React and TypeScript for frontend development.
- Backend experience with Java; familiarity with Node.js is a plus.
- Solid understanding of REST APIs, microservices patterns, and SQL/NoSQL databases.
- Practical experience building and operating CI/CD pipelines and automation (Azure DevOps or similar).
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-team collaboration skills.
- Authorized to work in the U.S. and able to work in/near Newport Beach, CA for a contractor engagement.
- Able to provide professional references and work history for technical roles.
Nice to Have
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
- Prior experience with security-first development and DevSecOps tooling.
- Exposure to serverless design patterns and event-driven architectures.
- Experience in the Insurance industry or regulated environments.
