What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is seeking a Clinical Research Specialist (may be hired at level 1, 2, or 3 depending on experience) to join a Stable Isotopes & Mass Spectrometry laboratory. This role supports biomedical research by operating mass spectrometers, preparing biological samples, analyzing data, and contributing to method development.

  • Operate, calibrate, and perform routine maintenance on mass spectrometers and related lab equipment.
  • Prepare biological samples and perform sample processing following established protocols and quality control procedures.
  • Run mass spectrometry analyses, review raw data for accuracy, and assist with data interpretation and reporting.
  • Develop and optimize analytical methods and standard operating procedures to improve data quality and throughput.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records (experimental procedures, instrument logs, QC).
  • Prepare samples, supplies, and specimens for shipping in accordance with institutional and regulatory requirements.
  • Support manuscript, report, presentation, and grant preparation as needed.
  • Collaborate with investigators and cross‑functional research teams to provide technical support for studies involving stable isotopes.
  • Maintain inventory, order supplies, and support laboratory organization and safety compliance.
  • Perform other duties in support of the laboratory’s research programs.

Who We’re Looking For (Qualifications)

Note: This vacancy may be filled at Clinical Research Specialist 1, 2, or 3 depending on the selected applicant’s experience.

Clinical Research Specialist 1 (Entry level)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, or related scientific field.
  • Academic or internship exposure to laboratory research preferred.
  • Basic proficiency in laboratory methods, data recording, and instrument handling.
  • Ability to learn new techniques, follow protocols, and work collaboratively.

Clinical Research Specialist 2

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field.
  • Minimum 2 years of laboratory research experience (academic, clinical, or equivalent).
  • Experience with biological sample preparation, lab instrumentation, data collection, and record-keeping.
  • Knowledge of quality control practices and ability to ensure reproducibility of results.
  • Able to work more independently and manage assigned projects.

Clinical Research Specialist 3

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field.
  • Minimum 4 years of progressively responsible laboratory research experience.
  • Demonstrated experience operating/maintaining instrumentation, analyzing data, and supporting multiple projects.
  • Experience mentoring or training junior staff and contributing to protocol development preferred.

Preferred / Useful Skills

  • Hands-on experience with mass spectrometry workflows (sample prep, instrument operation).
  • Familiarity with stable isotope methods and energy expenditure assays is a plus.
  • Strong data organization and basic statistical or data analysis skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication for reporting and collaboration.
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety/QA practices.
