What You’ll Do

This Contract-to-Hire Clinical Laboratory Technician will work onsite in a clinical laboratory environment supporting a central and specialty laboratory. You will perform a range of automated and manual testing to support diagnosis and patient care, operate and maintain laboratory instruments, and participate in continuous improvement and research activities.

  • Perform clinical laboratory testing across general chemistry, immunoassay, coagulation, hematology, renal, and cardiovascular diagnostics to support patient care.
  • Conduct both highly automated and manual assays (e.g., lipid metabolism, cardiovascular risk testing, enzyme and nutritional assays).
  • Operate, monitor, calibrate, and troubleshoot instrumentation such as mass spectrometers, NMR, ELISA platforms, chromatography systems (ICS), flow cytometers, spectrophotometers (visible and fluorescence), electrophoresis equipment, ultracentrifuges, and automated chemistry analyzers.
  • Process and handle patient specimens accurately — labeling, preparation, storage — following lab protocols and chain-of-custody requirements.
  • Follow established procedures and quality control practices to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant test results.
  • Document test procedures, results, QC, and routine maintenance in accordance with laboratory and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff, clinicians, and other healthcare professionals to troubleshoot testing issues and support efficient workflow.
  • Participate in research and validation studies for new clinical tests, outcomes assessment, and utilization review.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace and support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance testing processes and instrument performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a human biological science is required (examples: Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Neuroscience).
  • Hands-on lab experience with clinical assays or analytical instrumentation preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to follow SOPs, and commitment to quality and safety.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to work full-time onsite in Rochester, MN and to perform tasks that may require standing, repetitive motions, and occasional lifting of lab supplies.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay range: $23.00 - $24.00 per hour (Contract-to-Hire). Actual compensation offered will depend on qualifications, experience, location, and other job-related factors.
