What You’ll Do

This Confidential Client is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) for a contract-to-hire, fully onsite role in Thousand Oaks, CA. The CLS will perform CLIA/CAP-required laboratory duties across specimen processing, routine testing, and result reporting. This position includes hands-on work with clinical samples and support of molecular workflows (including NGS library prep).

• Perform specimen processing, testing, and accurate reporting of clinical laboratory results in accordance with CLIA/CAP and internal SOPs.
• Run routine qualitative and quantitative assays on blood, urine, and other clinical specimens.
• Perform and optimize NGS library preparation on clinical samples and collect and record experimental data per SOPs.
• Execute immunoassays (ELISA, immunoassay platforms) and molecular tests as needed.
• Maintain QC records, laboratory procedures, and quality control data; follow corrective actions for nonconformances.
• Coordinate with supervisors and compliance personnel for internal and external audits; promptly report instances of noncompliance.
• Support lab administration and other duties as assigned to maintain efficient laboratory operations.

Required Skills & Technical Experience

• Bachelor or Master of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science, Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
• 1–3 years of clinical laboratory experience in a biotechnology or biomedical environment preferred; entry-level CLS candidates may be considered if they hold a current Generalist license.
• Hands-on experience with ELISA and other immunoassays, basic hematology, microbiology techniques, and molecular biology workflows.
• Experience or exposure to NGS library preparation and molecular assay setup is strongly preferred.
• Strong record-keeping and attention to quality control and laboratory documentation.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to work collaboratively in a regulated lab environment.

• Licensure: Candidates must hold the required CLS license (Generalist license required for entry-level hires).
• Experience level: Entry Level — open to candidates with the license and relevant training/experience.

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay range: $42.00 - $60.00 per hour (range provided by Confidential Client). Actual pay within this range will depend on qualifications, experience, and other job-related factors.
