Overview
Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Clinical Lab Technician to join a molecular diagnostics team in SoMa / San Francisco, CA. This is a hands-on laboratory position supporting clinical molecular testing and sample processing. This role is full-time with a Tuesday–Saturday schedule (7:00 AM–3:30 PM).

What You’ll Do
- Support diagnostic molecular testing under direct supervision of licensed clinical laboratory staff.
- Prepare, label, and organize clinical specimens, tubes, and plates per established protocols.
- Perform nucleic acid extraction and prep steps for downstream assays (as trained).
- Assist licensed Clinical Laboratory Scientists (CLS) with clinical test protocols and documentation following SOPs and state regulations.
- Monitor sample integrity and escalate issues that could affect test quality or results.
- Maintain inventory of specimens, reagents, and consumables; restock workstations as needed.
- Operate and support lab automation and liquid-handling systems under supervision.
- Perform routine bench, equipment, and workspace cleaning and surface decontamination.
- Dispense pre-made, prequalified reagents/controls using pre-programmed fixed-volume devices under direct supervision.
- Prepare logs and documentation for routine testing and special assignments; assist with record-keeping for QA/QC.
- Follow quality control procedures and wear appropriate PPE to maintain a safe work environment.
- Participate in continuing education and required training.
Who You Are / Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a chemical or biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or equivalent.
- Able to pass any job-required pre-employment screening (e.g., background checks) and a standardized color vision test.
- Comfortable working a Tuesday–Saturday schedule and flexible during training periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ year laboratory experience, preferably in a clinical diagnostics environment.
- Experience with molecular biology techniques (nucleic acid extraction, NGS workflows).
- Experience using liquid handlers, lab automation equipment, or benchtop robotics.
- Familiarity with SOPs, QA/QC procedures, and aseptic technique.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Good oral and written communication and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay range: $28.39 - $35.00 per hour. Actual pay offered will reflect candidate skills, experience, applicable certifications/degrees, internal equity, and market data.
