Role Summary

This is an entry-level Clinical Lab Technician opportunity supporting a confidential client’s laboratory operations in Calabasas, CA. The role involves specimen handling and testing, routine instrument maintenance, documentation to meet CLIA/CAP standards, and working within a team under the technical oversight of a Clinical Laboratory Scientist. This position is scheduled Wednesday–Saturday, 3:00pm–1:30am.

What You’ll Do

• Participate in specimen testing following established procedures under the technical oversight of a Clinical Laboratory Scientist
• Record receipt/use/expiration dates for reagents, kits, controls, and standards; ensure materials are not expired before use
• Perform accurate pipetting using pre-set devices, calibrated automatic dispensers, or fixed-volume dispensers
• Perform and document preventative maintenance (PM) and instrument function checks; escalate complex repairs per procedures
• Adhere to standard operating procedures and safety requirements consistent with CLIA, CAP, and facility policies
• Document troubleshooting, quality control, PM logs, and other activities to ensure regulatory compliance
• Learn and expand understanding of laboratory medicine and the clinical relevance of test results

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or related field

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in a clinical laboratory (1 year or more preferred)
• Prior experience with confidential client or similar laboratory operations

• Proficient computer skills and familiarity with laboratory information systems (LIS)
• Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
• Able to pass a standardized color vision test
• Flexibility to work overtime or alternate shifts as business needs require

Schedule, Employment Type & Compensation

• Schedule: Wednesday–Saturday, 3:00pm–1:30am
• Employment Type: Contract, Full time
• Pay Range: $24.00–$30.00 per hour, plus applicable shift differential. Final pay is based on skills, experience, education/certifications, internal equity, and market data. (California pay transparency law: pay range shown above.)
