Position overview
Confidential Client (via Careertakes) is seeking an entry-level Clinical Laboratory Scientist I to join their Hematology laboratory team in Cammack Village, AR. This full-time position performs routine and specialized laboratory testing, specimen management, instrument maintenance, and supports quality processes that contribute to accurate diagnostic results.
What you’ll do
- Perform a variety of laboratory tests and procedures in hematology and related areas to generate data used in diagnosis and treatment.
- Prepare, label and manage specimens for analysis; ensure proper storage, rotation and inventory of supplies.
- Calculate, transcribe, record, and verify test results; escalate and document abnormal or critical findings per policy.
- Conduct manual result review, assist with proficiency testing and participate in quality control tasks.
- Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting and preventive care on laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Assist with validation, implementation and improvement of policies, procedures and new instruments.
- Participate in training and competency activities and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications (minimum)
- Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, clinical laboratory science, or equivalent experience.
- Entry level — no prior professional lab experience required.
- Ability to obtain one of the following certifications within 12 months of hire:
- Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) — AMT, or
- Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) — ASCP
- Strong attention to detail, ability to follow written procedures, and basic computer literacy for laboratory information systems.
- Ability to lift and move specimens and supplies, and to work standing for extended periods as required in a clinical lab environment.
Preferred qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or related field.
- Familiarity with hematology testing and instrumentation.
- Prior clinical or laboratory coursework, internships or externships.
Compensation & schedule
- Pay range (typical starting range): $23.00 – $28.70 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
- Estimated annualized compensation (for reference): approximately $85,396 (salary estimate shown on source).
- Time type: Full time. Work shift details are established by the hiring department.
