What You’ll Do

This is an entry-level, full-time Claims Representative (IAP) role in a workers’ compensation training program. You will complete a structured 4-week concept-based training class followed by onboarding, mentorship, and on-the-job development to become a claims professional. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Attend and complete the designated claims professional training program and onboarding.
  • Handle initial claim intake and process incoming mail, emails and claim documents.
  • Communicate with injured workers, employers/insureds, medical providers, attorneys and carrier representatives via phone, video and email.
  • Investigate new and existing workers’ compensation claims: gather medical records, employer reports, witness statements; verify policy coverage; identify potential subrogation or fraud indicators.
  • Determine coverage, compensability and benefits according to state rules and carrier programs.
  • Document and code claim activity, prepare reports, and maintain calendared action items to ensure compliance with deadlines and state requirements.
  • Participate in virtual or in-person training sessions, claim reviews and team meetings.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 0–2 years customer service or related experience preferred; combination of education and experience considered.
  • Comfortable working with computers, phone systems, and record keeping.

  • Paid, instructor-led 4-week training program followed by structured onboarding and mentorship.
  • Starting pay for hires in the jurisdiction noted (Pierre, SD) is $25.65 per hour.
