Overview — Claims Representative (IAP) — Trenton, NJ

Confidential Client is seeking entry-level Claims Representatives to join a structured Workers' Compensation training program in Trenton, NJ. This role starts with a paid, instructor-led training curriculum followed by hands-on onboarding, mentoring and on-the-job coaching to prepare you for a career in claims handling and claims adjusting.


What You’ll Do

  • Complete a comprehensive 4-week concept-based claims training program followed by dedicated onboarding and on-the-job training.
  • Learn to adjust workers’ compensation claims under close supervision.
  • Process incoming mail, emails, and claim documentation, ensuring accurate status updates and file organization.
  • Communicate professionally with injured workers, employers/insureds, medical providers, attorneys and carrier representatives via phone, video and email.
  • Investigate claims by gathering medical records, employer reports, witness statements and other evidence.
  • Verify employer/employee relationships, confirm policy coverage, and identify subrogation or potential fraud indicators.
  • Determine coverage, compensability and appropriate benefits per jurisdictional rules and client guidelines.
  • Document claim activity accurately, code file actions correctly, and prepare reports with findings and recommendations.
  • Administer indemnity and medical benefits, maintain calendared actions, and ensure state compliance.
  • Participate in virtual and/or in-person training sessions, claim reviews and team meetings as required.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience: 0–2 years of customer service or related experience preferred; combination of education and experience considered.
  • Next class start date (target): 10/12/2026.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Office-based role with virtual components (phone, video).
  • Mental: Clear conceptual thinking, judgement, problem solving, discretion and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Physical: Computer keyboarding and ability to use standard office equipment.
  • Auditory/Visual: Hearing, vision and speaking sufficient to communicate with customers and teammates.

Compensation & Benefits

As required by law for postings in certain jurisdictions, the starting pay for this role in the location listed is $25.65 per hour. Actual pay may vary based on experience, location and other factors.
