What You’ll Do

This is an entry-level claims role in a structured workers' compensation training program based in Signal Hill, CA (onsite). You will complete a multi-week, instructor-led training course, receive dedicated onboarding and mentoring, and then perform supervised claims work. Typical responsibilities include:

  • Attend and complete the designated claims professional training program and onboarding.
  • Adjust workers' compensation claims under close supervision during training and progressively with increased responsibility.
  • Process and respond to incoming mail, emails, and claim documents according to claim status.
  • Communicate clearly and empathetically with injured workers, employers, medical providers, attorneys, and carrier representatives via phone, video, and email.
  • Investigate new and existing claims: gather medical records, employer reports, witness statements, verify employer/employee relationships, coverage, and identify subrogation or fraud indicators.
  • Determine coverage, compensability, and appropriate benefits per jurisdictional guidelines and carrier program requirements.
  • Document claims files accurately, code claim activity, and prepare reports with findings and recommendations.
  • Administer claim benefits (medical and indemnity) and maintain calendared claim action items to ensure state compliance.
  • Participate in virtual or in-person meetings, claim reviews, and training sessions.

Qualifications

We welcome motivated, service-oriented candidates who are building a career in claims. Required and preferred qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; 2 years of customer service experience preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Empathy and professionalism when interacting with claimants and stakeholders.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and structured thinking for investigative work and documentation.
  • Comfort with learning new software and standard office computer tasks (keyboarding, email, telephony).
  • Team-oriented mindset and willingness to participate in a mentor-led development program.

Compensation & Benefits

For applicants hired in the jurisdiction noted in this posting (California), the advertised starting pay is $27.69 per hour. Actual compensation may vary depending on experience, skills, and location.

Training Program & Role Details

  • Position type: Full-time, onsite in Signal Hill, CA.
  • Program start / next class: 10/12/26 (subject to change).
  • Program overview: 4-week concept-based learning and professional training followed by dedicated onboarding and on-the-job training. You will be assigned a mentor and manager to guide development toward an independent claims adjusting role.
  • Career path: This role is designed to be a foundation for growth into claims adjusting and related claims leadership roles.
