What You’ll Do

This entry-level Claims Auto Adjuster role supports the Auto Claims operation by handling material damage, property damage, and liability claims in compliance with policy and regulatory requirements. Working under moderate supervision and within defined authority limits, you will investigate incidents, evaluate coverage and liability, and resolve or negotiate claims of lower complexity following established technical and customer-service best practices.

  • Communicate clearly with insureds, claimants, witnesses, and internal teams to explain coverages, benefits, fault determinations, and the claims process.
  • Conduct investigations to gather facts and statements from insureds, claimants, and witnesses; distinguish allegations from factual findings.
  • Review damage estimates and supporting documentation; assess liability and damages for first- and third-party claims.
  • Negotiate settlements within established authority and escalate complex matters as needed.
  • Use claims technology/tools to document files, track activities, and maintain timeliness and accuracy.
  • Coordinate with internal departments and external vendors as required.
  • Respond promptly to customer inquiries; overtime or holiday coverage may be required occasionally.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • No prior claims experience required — entry-level candidates encouraged.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer skills.
  • Strong organization, planning, oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and customer-service orientation.
  • Ability to follow well-defined procedures and work within assigned authority levels.
  • Property & Casualty insurance license valid in the selling state may be required (see Licensing & Compliance).

Compensation & Benefits

  • Starting pay: $25.48 – $28.03 per hour.

Licensing & Legal Requirements

  • May be required to obtain an Adjuster license as applicable under state law (often within 60 days of hire). Candidates must comply with state licensing rules where they will perform work.
