Overview
Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Civil Engineering New Graduate to join their Macomb, IL office. This hands-on role supports municipal, transportation, and public works projects — including site drainage and grading, water/sewer systems, roadway rehabilitation, and construction administration. You’ll receive structured mentorship, technical training (including AutoCAD Civil 3D), and professional development opportunities in a collaborative team environment.
What You’ll Do
- Assist with engineering analysis, design, field inspections, and report preparation
- Prepare permit applications and support site drainage and grading designs
- Perform basic engineering calculations (hydraulic, traffic, piling, rebar, earthwork balance)
- Assist in water and sewer system design for private and municipal projects
- Support grading and stormwater designs for commercial, industrial, and residential sites
- Gather project requirements and communicate technical information clearly to clients and team members
- Help track project schedules, budgets, and design documentation
- Analyze low- to medium-complexity engineering tasks with guidance from senior staff
- Participate in quality control and adopt industry best practices and emerging technologies
- Follow safety, regulatory, and local/state design criteria to ensure compliance
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor of Science (BS) in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) required
- Internship or co-op experience in building design or civil engineering preferred
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred
- Basic familiarity or willingness to rapidly learn AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Knowledge of common civil design techniques, plans, and specifications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Team-oriented mindset with attention to detail and problem-solving ability
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Willingness to travel up to ~5% (occasional overnight stays)

- Municipal and transportation-focused civil group serving Macomb and surrounding Illinois communities
- Projects include roadway rehabilitation, MFT administration, construction administration, bridges, culverts, water/wastewater, land development, and ADA improvements
- Collaborative, client-facing work with opportunities to rotate across project types
Compensation & Benefits
- State of Illinois Pay Range: $70,000 - $74,500 annually (base pay)
- Additional rewards may include annual bonuses and stock/ownership options, plus comprehensive benefits (medical, dental, vision, retirement plan), paid time off, and professional development support (licensure exam prep, mentoring).
