What You’ll Do

You will support project teams and learn the civil engineering consulting trade through practical assignments:

  • Assist with engineering analysis, design, field inspections, report writing, and permit applications
  • Support grading and stormwater designs for commercial, industrial, and residential site plans
  • Help design water and sewer systems for private and municipal projects
  • Perform basic calculations (hydraulics, traffic projections, piling/rebar, earthwork balance)
  • Document design decisions and follow client instructions while monitoring project progress
  • Work within project budgets and assist with planning and scheduling tasks to meet deadlines
  • Interact with clients to gather requirements and communicate technical information professionally
  • Participate in quality control processes to meet internal and industry standards
  • Stay current on industry trends, software, and best practices; contribute to innovation initiatives
  • Prioritize safety and regulatory compliance; interpret state and local design criteria

What You’ll Bring (Minimum Qualifications)

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Civil Engineering, or equivalent
  • Basic familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D (or willingness to complete training quickly)
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and concepts for producing technical plans and specifications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively on multidisciplinary teams
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving mindset
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Willingness to travel up to 5% with occasional overnight stays
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior internship experience in building design or consulting
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift up to 25 pounds
  • Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach, grasp, or pull
  • Limited exposure to outside weather conditions and occasional loud noises
