What You’ll Do
Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Civil Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to support municipal engineering projects in Forada, MN. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed engineer and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop construction plans, cost estimates, reports, and permit-ready deliverables for public infrastructure projects.
- Support development of civil designs, construction plans, specifications, and technical reports
- Prepare quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for municipal projects
- Perform field work and construction observation to document conditions and support project delivery
- Assist with review of shop drawings, submittals, and RFIs; prepare site observation reports
- Coordinate with other disciplines and external stakeholders (utilities, agencies, contractors)
- Use 3D modeling and design tools (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS) to develop and review designs
- Verify compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications
- Communicate clearly with project teams, clients, and contractors in written and verbal form
- Support value engineering and sustainable, cost-effective solutions
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet project goals and schedules
Who You Are / Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
- Successful completion of the EIT exam, or ability to pass the EIT within six months of hire
- Basic understanding of civil engineering principles, materials, and standards
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, or similar tools preferred
- Strong interest in municipal infrastructure and public works projects
- Excellent communication, organization, and teamwork skills
- Ability to take direction, prioritize tasks, and check work for accuracy
- Internship, co-op, or 1–2 years related civil engineering experience preferred but not required
Education & Experience
- Required: Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
- Required: EIT qualification or commitment to take the exam within six months
- Preferred: Co-op/internship experience or 1–2 years related civil engineering experience
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Typical office environment with frequent computer use and periods of sedentary work
- Field work may be required and may include exposure to outdoor conditions and construction sites
- Position is full-time; employment type may include contractor arrangements as needed
