What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Civil Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to support municipal engineering projects in Forada, MN. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed engineer and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop construction plans, cost estimates, reports, and permit-ready deliverables for public infrastructure projects.

• Support development of civil designs, construction plans, specifications, and technical reports
• Prepare quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for municipal projects
• Perform field work and construction observation to document conditions and support project delivery
• Assist with review of shop drawings, submittals, and RFIs; prepare site observation reports
• Coordinate with other disciplines and external stakeholders (utilities, agencies, contractors)
• Use 3D modeling and design tools (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS) to develop and review designs
• Verify compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications
• Communicate clearly with project teams, clients, and contractors in written and verbal form
• Support value engineering and sustainable, cost-effective solutions
• Perform other duties as assigned to meet project goals and schedules

Who You Are / Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
• Successful completion of the EIT exam, or ability to pass the EIT within six months of hire
• Basic understanding of civil engineering principles, materials, and standards
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, or similar tools preferred
• Strong interest in municipal infrastructure and public works projects
• Excellent communication, organization, and teamwork skills
• Ability to take direction, prioritize tasks, and check work for accuracy
• Internship, co-op, or 1–2 years related civil engineering experience preferred but not required

• Typical office environment with frequent computer use and periods of sedentary work
• Field work may be required and may include exposure to outdoor conditions and construction sites
• Position is full-time; employment type may include contractor arrangements as needed
