What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is seeking an Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) to join their municipal engineering team. In this entry‑level role you will support design teams on a variety of municipal infrastructure projects—including local roads, highways, public utilities, parks, trails, and related public‑works efforts—while being supervised by a licensed engineer.

  • Support development of civil designs, plans, specifications, reports and construction documents under supervision.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary team members to ensure compatibility with project intent.
  • Perform field observations and construction observation as required; assist with contract administration tasks (RFI responses, shop drawing review, site observation reports).
  • Compute quantities and prepare cost estimates for budgeting and value‑engineering.
  • Use 3D modeling and analysis tools to support civil system design.
  • Analyze proposed solutions for reliability, sustainability, resource efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
  • Interpret and verify compliance with applicable codes, standards and permitting requirements.
  • Communicate clearly with project teams, clients, agencies, and contractors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Project Manager or supervising engineer.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
  • EIT (Engineer‑in‑Training) certification OR ability to pass the EIT exam within six months of hire.
  • 0–2 years related civil/municipal engineering experience (internship or co‑op experience preferred for new graduates).
  • Basic understanding of civil engineering design principles, materials, and industry standards.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Attention to detail, time management, and ability to prioritize multiple assignments.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; working knowledge or exposure to AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, or similar technical software.
  • Interest in serving municipalities and public‑works infrastructure needs.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay range for locations where required (including Minnesota): $67,800 - $94,900 annually. Final compensation will be based on education, experience, and work location.
  • Benefits summary (regular full‑time and eligible part‑time employees): medical, dental, vision, wellness programs, HSA/FSA options, 401(k), employee stock purchase program, short/long term disability, life & AD&D insurance, tuition reimbursement, professional membership/ licensing support, paid holidays, vacation accrual and paid sick leave in accordance with state/local law.
  • Some roles may be bonus eligible. Part‑time compensation and benefits are prorated based on hours.

Location, Schedule & Travel

  • Location: Forada, MN (primary work location). This role may require fieldwork and occasional travel.
  • Schedule: Full‑time.
