Role Overview

Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Civil Engineer I to join their engineering team in Manassas, VA. This role supports land/site development projects and offers hands-on experience with civil design, drainage modeling, and project coordination. Ideal for recent graduates or early-career engineers who have exposure to Civil3D, AutoCAD, and stormwater modeling.


What You’ll Do

  • Conceptualize and complete civil engineering work for assigned phases of land/site development projects.
  • Prepare plans, specifications, technical reports, and development submittals.
  • Perform design calculations and checks using civil engineering software (Civil3D, AutoCAD, StormCAD, HEC-HMS/HEC-RAS).
  • Assist senior engineers in resolving design and field issues; perform site visits and field inspections as needed.
  • Support stormwater, drainage, detention basin, and open-channel design tasks.
  • Research zoning, development standards, and regulatory requirements; prepare response letters and application materials.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, clients, agencies, and subcontractors to keep projects on schedule and meet quality standards.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline required.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred.
  • Entry-level (or early career) candidates with internship or academic experience in civil/land development strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Experience or coursework with Civil3D and AutoCAD; familiarity with AES, CIVILD, WSPGW, PCSWMM, StormCAD, HEC-HMS, and HEC-RAS is a plus.
  • Understanding of storm drain modeling, rational method hydrologic calculations, detention basin and open channel design.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to work independently and in project teams.
  • Organized, motivated, and committed to quality and professional growth.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $63,000 - $85,000 per year (range provided by the Confidential Client; final offer commensurate with experience).

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Primarily an office-based role with potential hybrid or occasional field/site work.

  • Occasional lifting or carrying up to 20 pounds.
  • Frequent use of standard office equipment and computer workstations.
