Overview
Confidential Client is hiring a Civil Engineer (I, II, or III) to manage and deliver public‑sector capital projects in Water Resources, Wastewater, or Public Works/Traffic. This is a full‑time, on‑site role based in Parchment, MI. The role is open to multiple levels: entry (Engineer I), mid (Engineer II — EIT expected), and senior (Engineer III — P.E. required).
What You’ll Do
- Supervise and manage capital improvement projects, contracts, budgets and schedules.
- Plan, organize, coordinate, and manage long‑ and short‑range project planning and capital improvements.
- Prepare and approve designs, drawings, specifications, bidding documents, contracts, and cost estimates per City and industry standards.
- Conduct and coordinate construction surveying, inspections, and contractor pay‑request reviews.
- Model water system components to analyze impacts of new projects or upgrades.
- Prepare legal descriptions and documents for right‑of‑way acquisitions and work with property owners, appraisers, and consultants as needed.
- Lead or serve as project manager, resident engineer, assistant resident engineer, or inspector on construction projects (level dependent).
- Determine consultant/contractor scope of work and selection criteria; manage consultant deliverables.
- Attend meetings, address customer questions and complaints, and coordinate with internal divisions to ensure compliance with codes and standards.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Who We’re Looking For — Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
- Engineer I (P1): Entry level — no additional experience required.
- Engineer II (TS): Two years of paraprofessional civil engineering experience and possession of an Engineer‑in‑Training (E.I.T.) certificate.
- Engineer III (P2): Possession of a valid Professional Engineer (P.E.) license (required for P2 level).
- Valid Michigan driver’s license.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills; ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
Preferred / Useful Experience
- Prior public‑sector project or municipal engineering experience (water, wastewater, public works).
- Experience acting as project manager, lead designer, or resident engineer on construction projects.
- Experience with hydraulic or system modeling tools for water/wastewater networks.
- Experience preparing right‑of‑way documentation and coordinating acquisitions.
Compensation & Schedule
- Salary: $66,586 — $79,070 per year (position level determines placement within range).
- Employment type: Full‑time.
- Location: Parchment, MI — on‑site (travel within the service area and occasional field work required).
