What You’ll Do

This Civil Engineer role supports the full lifecycle of civil/site development projects — from concept through construction documents and implementation. You will prepare, review, and refine engineering plans and drawings for land development, residential subdivisions, commercial/industrial sites, and related infrastructure. You will apply civil engineering principles, industry standards, and local regulations to deliver constructible solutions that meet project objectives.

  • Support design and delivery of civil engineering projects from concept through final construction documents
  • Prepare, review, and revise plans for grading, utilities, storm sewer, water mains, detention/retention basins, and site layouts
  • Perform engineering calculations and analyses using industry-standard design and modeling software (AutoCAD Civil 3D expected)
  • Assist with stormwater management design and stormwater modeling to meet regulatory requirements
  • Develop grading plans, utility layouts, and site development details
  • Produce construction documents, specifications, and supporting calculations
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure accurate, timely project delivery
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly in drawings, reports, and verbal discussions
  • Contribute to quality control and maintain consistency with established design standards
  • Continuously develop technical skills and take on increasing responsibility as appropriate

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
  • 0–6 years of experience in site design and land development (entry-level candidates with relevant internships or co-ops are encouraged)
  • Familiarity with or proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Experience with land development tasks: grading, storm sewer, water main design, detention basins, and stormwater management
  • Ability to perform engineering calculations and analyses using design/modeling tools
  • Experience with stormwater modeling; exposure to or proficiency with HEC‑RAS is a plus
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and eagerness to learn

Preferred / Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D for grading, utilities, and stormwater design
  • Practical experience supporting residential subdivisions or commercial site development (internships or full-time)
  • Familiarity with local/regional permitting and design standards
  • Motivation to take ownership of design tasks and coordinate with project managers
  • Interest in a supportive environment offering mentorship and exposure to diverse projects

Work Environment & Schedule

  • You will join a Site Development team that typically includes multiple civil engineers and project managers and handles both residential and commercial projects.
  • Mid-sized, collaborative workplace with a family-oriented culture; leadership supports work-life balance.
  • Flexible arrangements: onsite role based in Crown Point, IN; hybrid schedules (up to two remote days per week) may be available for more experienced candidates, and alternative workweek options (e.g., 4/10s) may be offered in some cases.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay range: $70,000 – $120,000 per year. Actual pay offered will depend on qualifications, experience, geographic location, and other job-related factors.
