Overview

Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Civil Design Engineer focused on electric transmission line structures and foundations. This hybrid role supports transmission pole and tower design work, including structural analysis, foundation design, and construction drawing preparation. The position is represented by Engineers and Scientists of California (ESC) and follows collective bargaining terms.

What You’ll Do

• Actively promote and follow Corporate Safety policies.
• Prepare designs, calculations, drawings, layouts and studies from field inspections, sketches, specifications, and instructions.
• Perform structure and foundation analysis and design for transmission poles and towers.
• Review and check drawings, designs and work produced by others.
• Develop construction drawings using MicroStation and PLS CADD; use structural analysis tools such as SAP2000, PLS-Tower, PLS-POLE, and L-PILE.
• Participate in field reviews and coordinate project objectives with engineering, construction, operations and maintenance stakeholders.
• Foster teamwork and innovation to improve efficiency and quality.
• Travel approximately 10% of the time.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or graduating with a BS in Civil or Structural Engineering by December 2026; OR equivalent education/experience (six years of combined education and design drafting experience; or four years including two years at Confidential Client as a Design Drafter/Senior Design Drafter).
• Must possess and maintain a valid Class C California Driver’s License by Day 1 of hire.

Preferred / Desired

• Experience in structural engineering for transmission or utility structures.
• MS degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• EIT or PE license.
• Experience with PLS-TOWER and PLS-POLE.

Compensation & Work Type

• Employment type: Full-time, hybrid (remote + assigned work location within the service territory).
• Hourly pay range (per collective bargaining terms): $46.94 to $78.14 per hour. The actual hourly rate offered will consider skills, experience, licenses, geographic location, and internal equity.
• Estimated market annual figure shown on source: ~$122,187 (estimated; for comparison only).

• Primary location: Philatelic, CA (assigned work location will be within the client’s service territory).
• Travel: ~10% (field reviews and site visits).
