Role overview

Confidential Client is hiring a Civil Construction Assistant Project Manager based in Newbern, TN. This is an early-career to intermediate role supporting heavy civil/sitework and utility projects — including federally funded work — and offers hands-on experience in project execution, documentation, and subcontractor coordination. The position is full-time.

Salary: $85,000 - $120,000 per year + performance bonuses (listed in source).
Employment type: Full-Time.
Work schedule: Monday–Friday; travel to project sites as required (per diem when traveling).


What you’ll do

  • Support Project Managers and Superintendents to deliver heavy civil construction projects on time and on budget.
  • Review and interpret construction plans, specifications, and contract submittals to verify accuracy and compliance.
  • Assist with preparation, review, and tracking of project submittals and RFIs.
  • Generate purchase orders and monitor material deliveries to the job site.
  • Help develop and maintain project schedules; coordinate vendors and subcontractors.
  • Prepare and organize daily field reports and other project documentation for leadership review.
  • Ensure compliance with state, federal, and client-specific requirements (including access to federal facilities).
  • Provide general project support as needed to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient project execution.

Who we’re looking for (qualifications)

  • U.S. Citizenship is required (candidates must be U.S. Citizens to meet federal project requirements).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (required) or Construction Management (preferred alternate).
  • 0–3 years of experience in heavy civil construction or sitework preferred; strong entry-level candidates (recent grads) encouraged to apply.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and maintain accurate project records.
  • Ability to pass State & Federal professional reviews for access to military bases and Federal facilities.
  • Civil Engineer (PE) license or active progress toward licensure is a plus.

Location & travel

This posting is based in Newbern, TN. Projects require travel to job sites; occasional relocation to or work from other company offices may be required depending on project needs. Candidates should be prepared for on-site presence and travel as required.
