Position Overview

Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Chinese bilingual Field Test Engineer to join their engineering team in Richardson, TX. This hands-on role focuses on 3GPP-based 4G/5G modem system verification in the field, including test execution, log collection and post-processing, bug reporting, and collaboration with engineering and carrier teams.

What You’ll Do

• Execute 3GPP-based 4G/5G modem system verification test plans in the field.
• Follow SOPs to load software, collect field test logs, and document results.
• Operate multiple prototype and OEM devices during on-site testing.
• Post-process and analyze field test logs; identify, document, and report modem protocol and performance issues.
• Prepare daily/weekly test reports and KPI dashboards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to debug and improve modem performance.
• Contribute to test automation and process improvements to increase efficiency.
• Provide technical support to internal stakeholders and external customers as required.

Qualifications

• Approximately 2–5 years’ experience in 3GPP 4G/5G modem system verification (entry-level to early-career candidates with relevant hands-on experience are encouraged).
• Subject-matter knowledge of 3GPP 4G/5G specifications related to modem call processing and call flows.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to clearly articulate protocol- and performance-related issues to internal and external teams.
• Familiarity with Android OS and mobile device platforms.
• Basic knowledge of Python (enough to read and understand automation scripts).
• Experience analyzing logs and troubleshooting modem behavior.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to rent a car in the U.S.
• Willingness to travel domestically at short notice (approx. 35% travel).
• Flexibility with working hours when dictated by carrier test windows.

Preferred Skills & Tools

• Experience with logging/analysis tools such as QXDM, QPST, XCAL, XCAP.
• Familiarity with transport-layer protocols (TCP/UDP) and tools like Wireshark.
• Some programming or scripting skills (Python, Java, Perl) to support automation and analysis tasks.
• Data mining and data-management experience is desirable.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint) for reporting and dashboards.
• Strong knowledge of wireless technologies: LTE, 5G, HSPA+/WCDMA, GSM, CDMA, Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, GPS.
• Understanding of OSI model, IP packet concepts, and SW testing methodologies.

• Estimated salary: $82,086 per year (estimated).
• Employment type: Full time.
• Location: Richardson, TX (on-site and field work required).
• Travel: Approximately 35% domestic travel; short-notice travel may be required.
