What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring a temporary Child Support Technician / Paralegal in El Paso, TX to support child support enforcement and related legal administration. This is an entry-to-mid level role that works under moderate supervision and requires strong investigative, documentation, and customer-service skills.

  • Conduct detailed in-office investigations to locate absent parents, verify employment, and identify assets
  • Prepare legal and administrative documents to establish or enforce child/medical support orders
  • Negotiate lump-sum payments and out-of-court settlement agreements
  • Monitor case progress and refer delinquent matters for appropriate enforcement actions
  • Maintain accurate case records in TXCSES and the Enterprise Content Management (ECM) repository
  • Review cases for eligibility for closure and assist legal staff in court as needed
  • Respond professionally to customer inquiries, explain program policies, and assess complaints impartially
  • Serve as a Notary Public and perform other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university OR equivalent, year-for-year, relevant experience (e.g., child support program staff, investigations, collections, legal assistant/secretary)
  • Strong interviewing and negotiation skills
  • Proficient with computers for word processing, data entry, and case research (experience with TXCSES preferred)
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Sound judgment and ability to accept constructive feedback
  • Reliable transportation for business-related travel and ability to work occasional overtime in compliance with FLSA
  • Ability to lift and relocate up to 30 lbs.
  • Must pass required background checks (clean background required to qualify)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree from a four-year accredited college or university
  • Experience with investigative techniques or child support enforcement
  • Spanish language proficiency (read, write, speak) is highly desirable

Compensation & Schedule

  • Estimated pay: $39,651 per year (estimated)
  • Temporary appointment; schedule may require occasional overtime and flexibility
  • This position requires regular on-site attendance in El Paso, TX

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Professional office environment; occasional court appearances
  • Must maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and comply with all agency policies and ethics standards
  • Position may require sitting for extended periods, computer work, and lifting up to 30 lbs.
