What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is seeking a full-time Child Life Specialist to support pediatric patients and families by promoting coping through developmentally appropriate preparation, therapeutic play, and emotional support during healthcare experiences.

  • Assess developmental needs and risk factors for infants through young adults and provide resources to promote coping and diversion while building therapeutic rapport.
  • Prepare pediatric patients for medical procedures using evidence-based, developmentally appropriate interventions.
  • Provide emotional support and stress-reduction techniques to patients and families during procedures, diagnosis, pain management, and grief.
  • Use play and expressive activities as primary resources to reduce anxiety, promote mastery, and encourage socialization.
  • Support siblings and other children affected by a patient’s illness/diagnosis.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams; educate and consult to improve pediatric patient experiences.
  • Maintain documentation and contribute to program development and clinical advancement activities.

Qualifications

  • Child Life Specialist Certification (CCLS) — Required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Child Life, Child Development, Education, Recreation Therapy, Psychology, or a related field — Required.
  • Master’s degree — Preferred.
  • Entry-level professional competency in child life skills with demonstrated ability to learn and advance clinical skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and team-oriented mindset.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay range (posted): $20.97 – $38.99 per hour.
  • Note in posting: this position starts at a minimum hourly rate of $26.
  • Estimated annual market figure shown for similar listings: ~$63,951 (estimate).
  • Sign-on bonus: $3,000 (requires ≥1 year of applicable experience).
  • Relocation bonus: $3,000 (applicable if relocating >50 miles).
