What You’ll Do

This entry-level laboratory role supports environmental water-quality testing and data management in a professional analytical chemistry lab. You will run routine chemical analyses, maintain instruments and records, and help ensure data quality using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and standard software tools.

  • Perform routine chemical analyses of water quality samples using approved methods and instruments (auto analyzers, titrimetric methods, direct-reading devices, spectrophotometers).
  • Prepare reagents, standards, and analytical sample queues with precision.
  • Load and validate data in LIMS and use Excel for data handling and reporting.
  • Record and document quality control and quality assurance activities; support trend analysis and parameter relationships.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on assigned instruments; coordinate with vendors as needed.
  • Receive, log, and stage incoming samples; reconcile physical samples with electronic records and correct field data reports as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, limnology, botany, zoology, environmental science, or related field — chemistry preferred.
  • Comparable professional experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
  • Familiarity with laboratory best practices, basic analytical instrumentation, and spreadsheet/LIMS workflows is highly desirable.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures, wear required PPE, and safely handle hazardous chemicals.

Working Conditions

  • Work primarily in a laboratory environment; use of lab coat, gloves, and eye protection as required by the Chemical Hygiene Plan and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Tasks may require standing for extended periods, working in fume hoods, and lifting/carrying coolers or equipment.
  • Position involves handling toxic or hazardous chemicals; adherence to safety protocols is mandatory.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Starting Salary Range: $46,800.00 - $58,489.60 (starting pay based on qualifications and experience).

Additional Details & Compliance

  • This position is subject to mandatory drug testing consistent with Section 440.102, Florida Statutes. Any offer of employment will be contingent upon successfully passing a drug screening paid for by the Confidential Client.
