Position summary

Confidential Client is seeking an entry-level Chemist to join a hospital-based clinical laboratory in Rochester, IL. This contract-to-hire role supports diagnostic testing and laboratory operations using both manual and automated instrumentation. The position is fully onsite.

Key responsibilities

• Perform analyses on blood, tissue, and body fluids to support diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment.
• Operate, maintain, and perform routine QC on laboratory instruments, including GC/MS, HPLC, and LC/MS.
• Troubleshoot assays and evaluate test accuracy; participate in assay validation and optimization.
• Assist with interpretation of results and communicate findings to clinical teams as required.
• Use multiple computer systems to retrieve, record, and report test results.
• Follow laboratory safety protocols when handling infectious specimens, chemicals, and other hazards.

Minimum requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a human biological science (e.g., Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Neuroscience).
• Willingness to work onsite in a hospital clinical laboratory environment.

Preferred (not required):

• Coursework or hands-on experience with analytical instrumentation (GC/MS, HPLC, LC/MS) or clinical laboratory techniques.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to laboratory safety and quality.

Compensation & benefits

• Pay range: $23.00 - $24.00 per hour.
• This is a Contract to Hire role. Final pay within the posted range will depend on qualifications, experience, location, and other job-related factors.
