Overview

Confidential Client is hiring a Certified Athletic Trainer (PRN) to provide athletic training and sports medicine coverage for local high school athletic programs based in Hopedale, IL. This PRN role supports game/practice coverage, injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and safe return-to-play decision-making.

Compensation & Benefits

• Competitive PRN pay: $40.00 – $50.00 per hour
• $2.00/hour evening differential for hours after 6:00 p.m.
• Mileage reimbursement at the current IRS rate

What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is seeking a proactive athletic trainer to:

• Provide athletic training coverage at home athletic events, games, practices, tournaments, and other assigned activities.
• Evaluate and assess athletic injuries; communicate findings and recommendations to appropriate healthcare professionals.
• Assist with injury prevention, immediate treatment, rehabilitation, and conditioning programs.
• Monitor athlete recovery and coordinate return-to-participation recommendations with physicians and other clinicians.
• Communicate injury status, treatment plans, and activity restrictions to athletes, families, coaches, and athletic directors.
• Coordinate coverage with school athletic directors and coaching staff.
• Maintain accurate documentation of injuries, evaluations, treatments, and rehabilitation activities.
• Provide age-appropriate education to student-athletes about injury prevention, safe play, and basic health & safety.
• Support outreach and community sports medicine activities as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or entry-level Master’s degree in Athletic Training from an accredited program.
• Current Board of Certification (BOC) certification.
• Illinois Athletic Trainer license or eligibility for Illinois licensure.
• Current CPR/AED certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
• Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, injury assessment, prevention, rehabilitation, and therapeutic techniques.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work with athletes, families, coaches, athletic directors, and healthcare providers.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions within the scope of professional practice.
• Commitment to patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1–2 years of athletic training experience preferred.
• Previous experience covering high school athletic programs preferred.
• Experience working with physicians or in a healthcare setting preferred.

Schedule

• PRN (as-needed) position with scheduling based on athletic event coverage and departmental needs.
• Availability for evenings, weekends, games, practices, and tournaments may be required.
• Hours are not guaranteed and may vary by season and program needs.

Work Environment & Safety

• Work is performed primarily in athletic and community settings and may expose staff to variable weather conditions, uneven surfaces, athletic injuries, infectious disease, bodily fluids, and other hazards. Appropriate PPE will be provided and must be used per policy.
• Frequent interaction with student-athletes, parents/guardians, coaches, athletic directors, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
