Overview

Confidential Client is seeking a skilled Certified Athletic Trainer (PRN) to provide athletic training and sports medicine coverage for local high school programs in Hopedale, IL. This PRN role focuses on event coverage (games, practices, tournaments), injury evaluation, immediate care, rehabilitation support, and coordination with healthcare providers and school staff.


Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive PRN pay: $40.00–$50.00 per hour
  • $2.00 per hour evening differential for hours worked after 6:00 p.m.
  • Mileage reimbursement at the current IRS rate

What You’ll Do

  • Provide athletic training coverage for local high school home athletic events, including games, practices, and tournaments.
  • Evaluate and assess acute and overuse athletic injuries; make immediate care and referral recommendations.
  • Implement and assist with injury prevention, conditioning, treatment, and rehabilitation programs.
  • Monitor athlete recovery and support safe, evidence-based return-to-play recommendations in collaboration with physicians and other clinicians.
  • Communicate injury status, treatment plans, and activity restrictions to athletes, parents/guardians, coaches, and athletic directors.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation of evaluations, treatments, and rehabilitation progress in compliance with HIPAA and client policies.
  • Coordinate coverage logistics and collaborate with school athletic staff and coaches.
  • Support community outreach and sports medicine initiatives as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or entry-level Master’s degree in Athletic Training from an accredited program.
  • Current Board of Certification (BOC) certification.
  • Current Illinois Athletic Trainer license or eligibility for Illinois licensure.
  • Current CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain upon hire.
  • Strong clinical knowledge of anatomy, physiology, injury assessment, prevention, rehabilitation, and therapeutic modalities.
  • Experience or comfort working with adolescent athletes and delivering age-appropriate care and education.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently during events and make sound clinical decisions within scope of practice.
  • Commitment to professional standards, patient confidentiality, and HIPAA compliance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of athletic training experience, preferably covering high school athletics.
  • Prior experience providing coverage at games, practices, or tournaments.
  • Experience working with physicians or in a healthcare setting.

Schedule & Location

  • This is a PRN position. Hours are variable and scheduled based on athletic event needs.
  • Availability for evenings, weekends, games, practices, and tournaments is frequently required.
  • Work takes place primarily at local high school athletic facilities, gymnasiums, and outdoor fields in and around Hopedale, IL.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Frequent standing, walking, talking, hearing, and use of hands for athletic training tasks.
  • Regular bending, kneeling, crouching, lifting, and assisting athletes during evaluations and treatments.
  • Ability to respond quickly to injury and emergency situations; may include exposure to weather, uneven surfaces, bodily fluids, and other environmental hazards.
