What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is seeking a Certified Athletic Trainer to provide athletic training and sports medicine services to local student-athletes in Hopedale, IL. The Certified Athletic Trainer will focus on injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and safe return-to-play coordination. This role may also provide clinical support as a Physician Extender in outpatient clinic settings when needed.

• Provide athletic training coverage for games, practices, tournaments, and events.
• Evaluate, diagnose, and document athletic injuries and illnesses; make treatment recommendations.
• Design and implement individualized injury prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation plans.
• Assist in determining return-to-participation recommendations in collaboration with physicians and healthcare staff.
• Monitor rehabilitation progress and update stakeholders (athletes, coaches, parents/guardians, and physicians).
• Educate athletes, families, and coaching staff on injury prevention, safety, and proper conditioning.
• Coordinate coverage schedules and outreach programs with athletic directors and community partners.
• When assigned, serve as a Physician Extender: conduct assessments, assist physicians, support documentation, and provide patient education within scope of practice.

• Competitive pay: $27.00–$30.00 per hour
• $2.00 per hour evening differential for hours worked after 6:00 p.m.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree or entry-level Master’s degree in Athletic Training from an accredited program.
• Current Board of Certification (BOC) credential.
• Illinois Athletic Trainer license or eligibility for Illinois licensure.
• Current CPR/AED certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
• Strong clinical assessment, decision-making, and documentation skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel to athletic events as required.
• Ability to provide age-appropriate care and manage multiple priorities.

Preferred:

• Experience with high school or collegiate athletic programs.
• Experience in sports medicine, orthopedics, rehabilitation, or outpatient clinical settings.
• Prior experience serving as a physician extender or providing clinic support.
• Additional relevant certifications or advanced training in athletic training/sports medicine.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

The role requires frequent standing, walking, lifting of equipment, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments (fields, gyms, training rooms, clinics). Reasonable accommodations will be made for qualified individuals with disabilities.

• Constant (67–100%): standing, walking, talking, hearing, near visual acuity, hands-on patient care.
• Frequent (34–66%): bending, kneeling, reaching, positioning and transferring athletes.

• Work environment may include exposure to weather, bodily fluids, infectious diseases, and physical hazards; PPE is provided when needed.
