What You’ll Do

This entry-level engineering role supports Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS) and DAHS across a generation fleet. You will learn to maintain, calibrate, troubleshoot, and validate CEMS hardware and data systems while working with experienced engineers and plant personnel.

  • Assist with maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of CEMS gas analyzers, flow monitors, opacity, mercury, particulate systems, probes, and sample systems
  • Provide remote and on-site technical support for CEMS instrumentation and DAHS configuration, diagnosis, and calibration coordination
  • Support DAHS operations, data validation, QA reviews, alarming, and documentation of findings
  • Participate in linearity tests, cylinder gas audits, RATA support, and QA/QC activities
  • Review CEMS output for accuracy, identify data gaps, and help resolve performance issues prior to Environmental Services review
  • Contribute to fleet standardization, procedures, and project implementation as an I&C resource
  • Travel periodically to generating stations for field support and hands-on troubleshooting

Who We’re Looking For (Qualifications)

This position is intended for recent graduates or early-career engineers.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (ABET-accredited preferred) or Engineering Technology in Instrumentation/Electronics (PE path recommended)
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel periodically
  • Mechanical and electrical aptitude; willingness to work in operating plant environments
  • Coursework or experience in instrumentation, controls, environmental monitoring, or power plant systems is preferred

Knowledge & Skills

  • Basic understanding of process/industrial control and monitoring systems and CEMS-specific equipment
  • Aptitude to learn DAHS configuration/administration and basic PLC familiarity
  • Basic networking knowledge and familiarity with Modbus, OPC, or similar communications protocols
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings: P&IDs, schematics, one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and logic/flow diagrams
  • Comfortable with data tools (Excel required; SQL a plus) and clear written/verbal communication
  • Willingness to develop OT network and cybersecurity awareness related to CEMS

Working Conditions

  • Primarily day shift; overtime as required
  • Indoor/outdoor work with exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust, fumes, and operating equipment
  • Periodic travel (day trips and overnight stays) to generating stations
  • Mandatory PPE at stations: hard hat, eye/hearing protection, steel-toed shoes (non-slip)
  • Strict adherence to site-specific safety rules

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base salary: approximately $86,000 - $90,000 per year
  • Additional Total Rewards may include discretionary annual incentive, 401(k), pension, health insurance, paid time off, and educational assistance
  • Compensation grade / broader range (for reference): $74,551 - $128,688
