About the Role
Confidential Client is seeking an early-career Cell Culture Development Associate Scientist to join an upstream development team in Framingham, MA. This hands-on role supports upstream process development, cell separation/harvest activities, and maintenance of benchtop and automated bioreactor systems. The role reports into the Global Cell Culture Development group and works collaboratively with scientists and engineers to deliver high-quality experimental data and technical reports.
What You’ll Do
- Execute upstream process development experiments under general supervision; independently complete routine experiments and support more complex studies.
- Perform cell separation and harvest experiments, evaluating centrifugation and depth filtration approaches.
- Set up, calibrate, and troubleshoot lab-scale bioreactor automation and benchtop systems (e.g., shake flasks, ambr15, ambr250 where applicable).
- Prepare experimental protocols and templated technical reports; present results at lab or team meetings.
- Troubleshoot common cell culture challenges (e.g., contamination) and follow corrective procedures.
- Contribute ideas to improve standard cell culture methods and upstream process development practices.
- Follow all laboratory HSE procedures, SOPs/LOPs, and data integrity/documentation requirements.
- Participate in team meetings and support group goals with clear communication and timely deliverables.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Bioprocessing, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biomedical/Chemical/Biochemical Engineering, or related discipline.
- Minimum of 3 months of relevant laboratory experience OR equivalent exposure via coursework, undergraduate research, or internship.
- Working knowledge of aseptic technique and basic cell culture theory.
- Proficiency in English for effective team communication and documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with high-throughput or bench-scale culture models (shake flasks, ambr15) and/or benchtop bioreactor systems.
- Experience with ambr250 bioreactors.
- Hands-on experience with cell separation and harvest techniques (centrifugation, depth filtration).
- Familiarity using AI tools for literature review, data analysis, or technical writing is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range (North America): $64,500.00 - $93,166.66 per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience and qualifications in accordance with applicable law.
