Position Overview
Confidential Client is hiring an entry-level Case Worker I - Intake to provide case management and intake services in child welfare and related human services. This role supports protective services, conducts initial assessments, helps develop treatment plans, and participates in investigations and court processes under direct supervision.
What You’ll Do
The Case Worker I - Intake will perform supervised, entry-level child welfare and human services work, including:
- Conduct initial intakes and safety assessments for child and adult protection referrals
- Provide crisis intervention and short-term problem solving for families at risk of homelessness or out-of-home placement
- Draft assessments, treatment plans and court reports for supervisory review
- Coordinate with law enforcement, medical providers, courts and community partners during investigations
- Offer in-home and office-based casework, including parenting coaching, safety planning and referrals to community resources
- Conduct foster home and adoption initial assessments and assist with certification processes (as applicable)
- Provide emergency on-call services as scheduled (after-hours on-call duty)
- Maintain accurate documentation and data entry in required systems
- Travel within Colorado for trainings, court, home visits and other casework as required
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Social Work, Psychology or a related human behavioral science (required). Degree must include major coursework equivalent to 30 semester hours (or 45 quarter hours) in areas such as human behavior, child development, family intervention, diagnostic/therapeutic techniques, social work, psychology, sociology, counseling or child development.
- No prior experience required; this is an entry-level training position.
- Must successfully complete Colorado Department of Human Services caseworker training requirements and obtain the Colorado Child Welfare Training Academy certificate within mandated timeframes.
- Valid State Driver’s License and ability to travel across the county and to remote locations.
Preferred Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of social casework principles, child development and child/adult protection laws and timelines
- Ability to assess risk, use forensic interviewing and provide clear, concise written reports
- Strong interpersonal skills: empathy, de-escalation, cultural sensitivity and effective communication
- Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and follow supervisory direction
- Good organizational skills, time management and accuracy with data entry
- Capacity to make critical decisions in high-stress situations under supervisor guidance
Physical & Other Requirements
- Regular and predictable attendance required
- Ability to sit, stand, walk and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to drive in inclement weather and travel to remote areas
- Ability to participate in on-call rotation for emergency response after hours
Compensation & Schedule
- Employment type: Full-time
- Estimated salary: $45,447 per year (estimated, as shown in source posting)
- Standard business hours plus participation in scheduled on-call rotation; some evening or weekend work may be required for emergency response and court appearances
- Training and professional development required and provided according to Colorado DHS rules
