Position overview

Confidential Client is hiring a Career Advisor I (entry-level Career Employment Services Consultant) to join their Division of Workforce Solutions team serving North Carolina. This full-time role delivers employment services, job development, and career-center support to jobseekers and employers. The position is based in a local office in North Carolina (NC) and reports to a DWS manager. Recruitment range: $35,596 - $55,619 per year.


What You’ll Do

The Career Advisor I supports jobseekers and businesses through a range of workforce programs. Typical responsibilities include:

  • Deliver employment services, job training referrals, and limited unemployment insurance assistance.
  • Conduct interviews, assessments, and eligibility reviews (including RESEA as required).
  • Provide career counseling, resume/interview coaching, and job search support.
  • Develop employer relationships, take job listings, and perform job development activities.
  • Enter and maintain client and job order data in program databases.
  • Collaborate with workforce partners in an Integrated Services Delivery (ISD) environment.
  • Support placement and follow-up activities and connect customers to supportive services.
  • Cross-train across Career Center services and participate in outreach or inter-office travel as business needs require.

What We’re Looking For

Candidates who meet the minimum education and experience requirements below will be considered. Management preference may be given to applicants demonstrating the listed skills.

Minimum education/experience (qualify by one of the options below):

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with related experience in human resource administration, case management, job development/placement, employment counseling, vocational guidance, social work, vocational rehabilitation, claims analysis, or other public contact work; OR
  • Associate degree plus two years of related experience as listed above; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.

Relevant skills (examples):

  • Ability to provide employer/jobseeker counseling and teach interview techniques.
  • Ability to interpret program guidelines, review data, and prepare written documentation.
  • Comfort using or learning case-management and workforce software.
  • Strong customer service and verbal/written communication skills.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Recruitment range: $35,596 - $55,619 per year.
  • Full-time (40 hours/week) with state benefits, including health insurance and retirement.
  • 12 annual paid holidays plus monthly accrual of vacation and sick leave.
  • North Carolina State Health Plan administered by Aetna.
