What You’ll Do
This entry-level career services role is based in a local career center serving Cherokee County. You will provide information, guidance and hands‑on assistance to job seekers and employers through programs administered by our client’s Division of Workforce Solutions. Day-to-day work includes delivering employment services and job training support, conducting eligibility and re‑employment assessments, developing employer relationships, taking and researching job listings, and documenting activity in program systems. The role supports integrated service delivery with workforce partners and may require occasional travel across the local service area.
Responsibilities
- Deliver direct employment services and career counseling to job seekers, including assessments, referrals, and placement support.
- Conduct Reemployment Services and Eligibility Assessments (RESEA) and related program activities as assigned.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local employers; take job orders and perform outreach by phone and in person.
- Provide labor market information and referrals to training and supportive services.
- Enter and maintain accurate case, job order, and activity data in program databases.
- Cross-train on Career Center services and collaborate with workforce partners in an Integrated Services Delivery (ISD) model.
- Prepare written documentation, reports, and correspondence as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned under the supervision of the DWS Manager.
Minimum Qualifications
You may qualify with any one of the following education/experience combinations:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with related experience in human resources, case management, job development/placement, employment counseling, vocational guidance, social work, vocational rehabilitation, claims analysis, or other related public contact work; or
- Associate degree plus two years of related experience in the areas listed above; or
- An equivalent combination of education and related experience.
Preferred skills and competencies:
- Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to work with diverse audiences.
- Ability to learn methods for employer/jobseeker counseling, teach interview techniques, and match applicants to job openings.
- Ability to interpret program guidelines, review data, solve problems, and prepare clear documentation.
- Comfort using or learning case management and program software to record activities and manage tasks.
- Strong customer service orientation and initiative in community outreach and job development.
Compensation & Benefits
- Recruitment range: $35,596 — $55,619 (annual).
- Estimated salary for this posting: approximately $53,814 per year.
- Full-time (40 hours/week) with state benefits including health insurance, retirement (TSERS), access to 401(k)/457 plans, paid holidays, leave accruals, supplemental benefits (FSA, dental, vision), employee discounts, and eligibility for Public Service Loan Forgiveness programs.
- Hiring salary is determined by relevant qualifications, internal equity, and budget considerations.
