Overview

Confidential Client is seeking a Career Advisor I to join the Division of Workforce Solutions team in Boone, NC. This is a full-time (40 hours/week) public-sector role providing direct employment and career services to job seekers and employers at a local career center. Recruitment salary range: $35,596 - $55,619 per year.


What You’ll Do

  • Deliver employment services, job training guidance, and labor market information to customers and employers.
  • Conduct interviews, assessments, and eligibility screenings (including RESEA where applicable).
  • Provide career counseling, job development, referrals, and placement support.
  • Maintain accurate client records and data entry in program databases.
  • Take job listings and build relationships with local employers to identify openings and hiring needs.
  • Collaborate with workforce partners in an Integrated Services Delivery (ISD) environment.
  • Participate in outreach, planning, program promotion, and evaluation of services.
  • Cross-train across career center services to support seamless customer service.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must meet one of the following options:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution with related experience in human resource administration, case management, job development and placement, employment counseling, vocational guidance/counseling, social work, vocational rehabilitation, claims analysis, or related public-contact work; or
  • Associate degree plus two years of relevant experience in the areas listed above; or
  • An equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.

Preferred Skills & Abilities

  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to learn and apply program guidelines and policies.
  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn case-management software.
  • Customer-service orientation and experience working with diverse populations.
  • Ability to conduct problem solving, review data, and prepare documentation.

Work Location & Travel

  • Based in Boone, NC (Watauga County) at the local NCWorks Career Center.
  • Travel between career centers within the region may be required based on business needs.
