What You’ll Do

Confidential Client is hiring a Capacity Procurement Representative to source and secure carrier capacity, negotiate purchase rates, and ensure on-time freight movement using the client’s carrier management platform. This is a hands-on, customer-focused role that supports daily operational needs and drives margin performance.

  • Negotiate carrier rates to meet load requirements while protecting margin goals
  • Tender loads and maintain accurate shipment and carrier records in the carrier management platform
  • Act as primary liaison between internal stakeholders (sales, operations, customer service) and carriers
  • Monitor freight in transit by obtaining timely updates and proactively resolving exceptions
  • Verify carrier authenticity and tracking prior to scheduled pickups
  • Communicate service failures and partner with internal support teams to reduce cost and operational inefficiencies
  • Build and maintain a reliable carrier base to ensure freight coverage and increase automation and efficiency
  • Stay current on market trends and use data to inform negotiation tactics
  • Provide urgent transportation updates to customers to meet service expectations

Who You Are (Qualifications)

Minimum qualifications (equivalent combinations of education/experience considered):

  • High school diploma or GED AND up to 1 year of experience in transportation/logistics, business administration, account management, or equivalent military experience
  • Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends if needed
  • Strong professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to build and maintain productive working relationships
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when processing information
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and perform under pressure
  • Experience holding others accountable and having difficult conversations

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field
  • Up to 1 year of relevant experience in transportation/logistics, account management, or a related function
