Position Overview

Confidential Client is seeking Entry‑Level Campus Police Officers to join its campus public safety team in Seattle, WA. This is a full‑time, regular position focused on community‑oriented policing, campus safety, and enforcement of applicable laws and university regulations. Eligible hires may receive a $2,500 sign‑on bonus.


What You’ll Do

  • Patrol assigned campus areas on foot and by vehicle to maintain safety and enforce applicable laws and regulations (approx. 30%)
  • Conduct building and grounds inspections for trespassing, fire hazards, property damage and other irregularities (approx. 10%)
  • Respond to and investigate accidents and criminal incidents; administer first aid; gather evidence and interview witnesses (approx. 20%)
  • Direct/regulate traffic, issue citations, make arrests, and process suspects when required (approx. 20%)
  • Operate communications systems, receive incident reports, dispatch units, monitor alarms, and prepare reports (approx. 10%)
  • Monitor and manage demonstrations or illegal gatherings and provide surveillance/incident prevention (approx. 5%)
  • Coordinate with local law enforcement and emergency services during larger incidents (approx. 5%)
  • Support public events, dignitary protection details, and community engagement activities as assigned

Specialized Units & Career Opportunities

Confidential Client’s department supports a variety of specialty assignments that officers may qualify for over time, including:

  • Detective/Investigations
  • Bicycle patrol
  • Field training officer (FTO)
  • Plain‑clothes assignments
  • Explosives detection K‑9 unit
  • Dignitary protection
  • Incident Prevention / Community Outreach teams

Shifts & Schedule

  • Officers work a range of shifts depending on assignment (e.g., 5x8, 4x10). Some weekend and evening work is required.
  • Overtime and specialty assignment hours are regularly available.

Required Qualifications

Applicants must demonstrate they meet all minimum qualifications to be forwarded to the hiring department:

  • High school diploma or GED (or equivalent)
  • At least 21 years of age upon completion of the Police Academy
  • Valid driver’s license
  • No prior felony convictions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Fluency in additional languages (examples: Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, Thai)

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay range: $109,548 – $127,044 per year
  • Sign‑on bonus: $2,500 for eligible entry‑level hires

  • Union/Bargaining Unit: This role is represented by a bargaining unit (as applicable).

Working Conditions & Location

  • The role requires operational readiness 24/7; officers must be prepared for variable schedules and emergency response.
  • Primary facility located in Seattle, WA with campus patrol responsibilities.
  • On‑site facilities may include dispatch, training rooms, physical fitness areas, evidence storage, and fleet parking.

Selection & Additional Application Steps

  • Written exam and physical ability test (PST or equivalent) — entry‑level candidates must successfully complete required testing
  • Completion of a Personal History Statement/background packet
  • Oral board (panel interview)
  • Ride‑along with a field training officer
  • Background investigation, polygraph exam, psychological evaluation, medical exam, drug screening, fingerprinting
  • Official offer of employment contingent on successful completion of all selection steps
