About the Role
Confidential Client is hiring a C++ Software Engineer to join an Endpoint State & Control team focused on defining and enforcing endpoint behavior across managed environments. You will work on systems-level controls and testing infrastructure that help IT teams and service providers monitor, manage, and secure endpoints at scale. This role emphasizes high-quality, reliable engineering and practical impact.
What You’ll Do
- Own and build testing infrastructure and test coverage for two active C++ systems.
- Contribute feature development for systems-level projects using modern C++.
- Design and maintain automated tests (unit, integration, CI pipelines) to ensure reliability at scale.
- Collaborate with peers to investigate platform behavior, debug low-level issues, and improve observability.
- Adapt workflows to safely incorporate AI-assisted tools and automation where useful.
- Perform other duties as required to deliver high-quality releases.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
- 1–3 years of professional C++ experience.
- Strong C++ fundamentals: memory management, RAII, STL, smart pointers.
- Familiarity with build systems (CMake preferred) and modern C++ toolchains.
- Experience writing or maintaining automated tests in C++ (Google Test, Catch2, CTest, or similar).
- Interest in systems-level software: OS APIs, processes, file systems, and services.
- Comfortable asking questions, learning from code and documentation, and working where many answers are discovered collaboratively.
- Comfortable adapting workflows to incorporate AI tools and suggestions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Any Windows systems programming exposure (Windows APIs, WINAPI, process management, registry access).
- Familiarity with CMake + vcpkg or similar cross-platform build environments.
- Experience with test frameworks that support mocking or dependency injection (Google Mock, etc.).
- Exposure to cross-platform C++ development (Windows + macOS/Linux).
- Background in or strong interest in security software (endpoint protection, system hardening).
- Experience with structured CI pipelines and CTest.
Location & Work Model
- This role supports hybrid-remote flexibility. Confidential Client hires remote candidates located in the USA from the following states: CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, IL, KS, MA, MD, ME, NJ, NC, NY, OR, TN, TX, VA, and WA.
- Physical offices are available for those who prefer a hybrid option (e.g., Austin, TX and Tampa, FL).
- Onsite interviews may be required.
- This position is NOT eligible for visa sponsorship.
Compensation & Benefits
- Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on job-related factors including location and experience. (Confidential Client provides a base salary hiring range of $85,000 to $110,000 per year for roles based in CA, CO, MD, NJ, NY, and WA as required by applicable pay transparency policies.)
- Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), life insurance coverage, and PTO. Specific benefits vary by location.
